Ana Lozano y Víctor Aguado

The Satellite Settlement (Poblado Dirigido) of Caño Roto was a social residential development on the southwest outskirts of Madrid whose construction began in 1957 to house the relocated gypsy population, emigrants from the south, and peasants flocking to the city as a result of the rural exodus. In the 1970s, Caño Roto lent its name to the rumba music played by groups such as Los Chorbos, peppered with soul and Afro-American funk influences. This project will involve the making of a film from which to attempt and produce some kind of documentary, fictional and musical knowledge about imposed ways of life, hazardous work, housing uses and the sound that gypsies, southern migrants and marginal inhabitants produce in their city. 

BIO

Ana Beatriz Lozano Sinausía (Madrid, 1992). Holds a degree in Fine Arts and a master’s degree in Artistic Education in Social and Cultural Institutions from the UCM. A multidisciplinary artist, dancer, DJ and project coordinator, first as part of the IED team for the master's degree in Didactic Coordination, then as co-founder of La Matriz, a space for shared knowledge held in Madrid and the confluence of electronic music and flamenco, and as assistant artistic director of the FelipaManuela residency space. 

Víctor Aguado Machuca (Madrid, 1989). An artist, researcher, musician, editor and curator, his work has been shown in spaces such as the Reina Sofía Museum, Medialab-Prado, Matadero Madrid, the Canal Choreographic Centre, CA2M, Círculo de Bellas Artes, Metrònom Barcelona, Instituto Cervantes de Berlín, City University of New York and ArtCenter/South Florida Miami. He holds a degree in Architecture from the UPM and a master's degree in Philosophy from the UAM. He is the Director of El Pisito, a space for coexistence and artistic residencies in Madrid. And co-editor of Party Studies, an editorial project aimed at recognising new expressions of communitarianism, social solidarity and migratory flows.
