“Quizás un día” (“Perhaps one day”), a non-fiction film

Some of the images and sounds that make up “Maybe One Day” were recorded in April 2021.

Sinopsis
The main characters are three women who are pushing forty. They met years ago in Mexico and then each went their own way (although they talk to each other every day on WhatsApp). Although they are very different, they share a certain existential disorder. It had been 7 years since they had lived together and they wanted to force this experiment and record it as a filmed diary.

When a year had gone by, in order to achieve a certain emotional distance, the creator began to work on the project from a theoretical and aesthetic perspective and to consider what form it should take. For her, the Matadero residency is a space for research, editing and reflection; it will be the place where she will transform this domestic material into a celebration of female friendship.

Bio
Carmen Bellas graduated in Film Directing from the ECAM (Madrid Film and Audiovisual School) and studied film editing at the San Pablo CEU University.  She has directed the short film “The Visit” (La Visita) (2014), the feature film “Once We Were Wild” (Una vez fuimos salvajes) (2017) - (winner of the Best Documentary Award at Alcances and the Numax Award at Novos Cinemas) - and the medium-length film using archival material “Memories of Overseas” (Memorias de Ultramar) (2021) for Filmoteca Española (Spanish Film Archive).
